A wine club is a unique organization of wine lovers. Some tend to regard a wine club as one good way of getting familiar with various wine types. This is not entirely accurate, however, because in most cases, a wine club is composed of people who love wine and are easily familiar with its many different kinds and flavors.
A wine club, quite obviously, is an excellent way of getting access to many, if not all, of the better-known wines ever produced worldwide. Many of such wines are quite expensive, so having access to them is something only the financially well-off can naturally get to do. However, by joining a particular wine club, one need not be extravagantly rich to get even a sip of these wines often reserved for those with discriminating tastes in wines.
In many cases, memberships in a given wine club is free. Memberships then are not really a major problem in a wine club. The focus for most wine lovers is in deciding which particular wine club in which to participate.
Depending on what kind of wine club one registers with, it would usually mean getting a sip from at least two carefully selected bottles every month. If the wine club where one becomes a member concentrates solely on internationally made wines, for instance, wine tasting would most likely involve two wine bottles produced from two different countries.
Meanwhile, if a given wine club focuses on wines manufactured in a particular region or state, then wine tasting among its members will most likely be limited exclusively to a given place. A good example of this would be a wine club in California where wine tasting is devoted to wines known to be produced exclusively in California.
A typical wine club in California often has memberships both for the novice wine lover and the certified wine connoisseur. Regardless of where one falls into, however, memberships in a wine club in California will usually be quite an experience. Participation will involve six specific wine types, including appetizer wines, red wines for dinner, rose wines, white dinner wines, sparkling wines and table wines.
Another wine club worth becoming a member in would be the wine of the month. Ostensibly, the wine of the month is a club where members are given at least one fine bottle every month for their tasting pleasure and eventual verdict. Typically, members of the wine of the month are veteran wine lovers on the lookout for a slight variation in their wine tasting habits and activities with the ultimate objective of possibly adding a newly-presented wine to their growing list of wine collections.
Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, one club quite popular among wine enthusiasts is the Sunday Times. Expectedly, the Sunday Times is one club capable of offering its members the best-tasting wines found in the European continent, particularly from such countries like Spain, Italy and France.
Recently, however, the Sunday Times is said to have introduced to its members to wines known to be produced in Russia, considered by many as its version of the Burgundy. In addition, the Sunday Times has included the so-called Brazilian bubbly in its official wine collection.
For wine enthusiasts, novices and experts alike, joining a club that caters directly to their interests is a great pastime to undertake. Aside from free tastings and bottles, the camaraderie felt between fellow wine lovers is incomparable.
